67 began as an internet meme. A boy named Mason started the meme in gym class with his friends. I first saw the meme on TikTok. Since the meme went viral, Mason has received a lot of hate from people on the internet for making 67 a thing. Although the joke was funny at the start, I believe it has gone too far. People say 67 at inappropriate times. For example, classmates say 67 when someone is crying or even at funerals and during tests. At school, if a teacher is counting and he says “67,” the entire class reacts by saying 67. Outside of school, I have seen it said everywhere on social media and even at the store. I have witnessed little kids screaming it on the bus — it’s everywhere. I don’t think the trend will die anytime soon as it has been going on for nearly a year. My hope is that we will start sharing new jokes.
